Religious Leaders See Grim Scene

"Alerted by 229 migrant deaths so far this year - up at least 20 percent from last year - in the Tucson sector covered by the U.S Border Patrol, Jewish and Christian leaders from around the United States traveled together from Tucson to Nogales, Mexico, for "Interfaith Border Witness" on Aug. 29. Co-convened by Dr. David Elcott, director of interreligious affairs at the American Jewish Committee in New York, and Tucson-based Rick Ufford-Chase, moderator of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the group wanted to highlight the need for humanitarian immigration reform."
